The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2024 has rolled out the grand red carpet for Bollywood celebrities with its three-day extravaganza poised to kick off on September 27 at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. This glitzy ceremony, now in its third year at this iconic venue, promises to celebrate the crème de la crème of Hindi and South Indian cinema.
As the stars begin to descend upon Abu Dhabi, excitement is palpable. Shah Rukh Khan was one of the first few celebrities to jet off for IIFA Awards. He is all set to host the 24th edition of the awards with his filmmaker friend Karan Johar. Vicky Kaushal too will be hosting the grand ceremony, while Rekha, Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and other Bollywood heavyweights prepare to set the stage ablaze with their captivating performances.
Videos of Bollywood celebrities arriving in Abu Dhabi for the big event have surfaced on the internet. While Shah Rukh Khan already started his rehearsals for hosting the big event, on Thursday, actors Vicky Kaushal, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with her daughter Aaradhya, Kriti Sanon were clicked as they arrived in Abu Dhabi.
SRK, when asked how excited he is for IIFA this year, said, “Wonderful as always. Loving Abu Dhabi, loving Andre Timmins…” When asked what can the audience expect for the awards nights this time around, he said, “Batata hoon, pura programme batata hoon (I’ll tell you the whole programme, come…).”
Rekha appeared to be quite excited ahead of her 22-minute performance on the IIFA stage. She was seen in an all-denim look, hurrying to reach the venue from her hotel in the city. Vicky Kaushal, Shahid Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon were spotted rehearsing for their gigs soon after they reached the venue.
The festivities will commence with IIFA Utsavam, a tribute to the southern film industries, honoring the contributions of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema. Megastar Chiranjeevi will receive a special award for his enduring impact on South Indian cinema. Some power-packed performances by Chiranjeevi, Bala Krishnan, and Prabhu Deva are also being planned.
Ponniyin Selvan actors Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Brahmanandam, Venkatesh Daggubati, among others, have reached Yas Island for the IIFA Utsavam.
Rekha’s show-stopping 22-minute performance, featuring 150 dancers and bespoke Manish Malhotra designs, is highly anticipated. Other performers include Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor, Raashii Khanna, Prabhu Deva, and Pushpa composer DSP. The three-day event will conclude with IIFA Rocks, an exclusive, invite-only night of musical performances.
