Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are making waves with their intense action-packed roles in Raj and DK’s series, Citadel: Honey Bunny. The duo performed high-octane stunts in the show, which left them drenched in mud. In a recent interaction with The Hollywood Reporter India, Varun gave fans an inside look at the challenging and sometimes painful process of filming these action sequences, sharing an amusing anecdote involving a brand video shoot during the intense filming schedule.
Varun began by describing the chaotic shooting environment, recalling how he and Samantha were filming at a palace location amid explosions, mud, and blood. “There’s a very funny story. We were shooting at a palace, and there were blasts happening, mud and blood everywhere. In the middle of all this chaos, my management wanted me to shoot a brand video for Too Yumm, and I was literally covered in mud and blood,” he said.
Samantha, who was present during the interaction, jumped in and recalled seeing Varun filming the same brand video despite the gruelling conditions. “But I saw you shooting that brand video,” Samantha said. Varun responded saying, “Well, I had a bath and shot the brand video the next day.” Impressed by his dedication, she replied, “I appreciate your…wow. I wouldn’t have done that.” To this, Varun humorously quipped, “I like money, so…” which had the entire room erupt in laughter.
Citadel Honey Bunny is a spin-off of the American spy action series Citadel, which starred Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden. Created by the Russo Brothers, best known for their work on the Avengers films, the Citadel universe includes multiple spin-offs set in different countries, including India, Spain, Italy, and Mexico. The original series serves as the ‘mothership’ show for the expanding global franchise.
