Pooja Ruparel, best known for her portrayal of Chutki in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, also featured in filmmaker Rakesh Roshan’s popular 1993 movie, King Uncle. In a recent interview, Pooja reminisced about her time shooting for the film, and shared some interesting anecdotes. She revealed that Hrithik Roshan, who served as an assistant director on the film, did not receive preferential treatment and stayed with other assistant directors in a separate hotel. She also spoke about how Jackie Shroff, who played the lead role in King Uncle, would bring his toddler son Tiger Shroff to the film’s set.
Speaking about Hrithik Roshan and how he would show off his dancing skills on the set, Pooja told Bollywood Thikana, “Hrithik Roshan was the assistant director on Kung Uncle. He didn’t get any preferential treatment. He used to stay with all the other assistant directors in a separate hotel. I must say, Rakesh ji really taught his son well. Hrithik was learning everything. He used to dance so well. He was very quiet. He was a great dancer even then. I once saw him dance on the set and I was like, ‘Wow, kya break dance karte hai.'”
Sharing her memories of Tiger Shroff when the actor was just a toddler, Pooja said, “Tiger Shroff was just two-three years old at that time. Tiger was a tiny baby, he was learning his first words. He was the world’s most beautiful child. Jackie Shroff used to make him learn funny words and take him to a room where his voice would echo and would get him to speak those words. It was very hilarious. Jackie was a prankster on the set.”
King Uncle also featured Shah Rukh Khan, Anu Aggarwal, Nagma, Paresh Rawal, Sushmita Mukherjee, and Deven Verma in significant roles. The film achieved massive success at the box office and has since become a cult classic. Incidentally, Tiger and Hrithik would go on to star together in the blockbuster film War.
