Actor Harman Baweja started his acting career with the 2008 film Love Story 2050, but he quit the industry after the failure of his 2014 film Dishkiyaoon. Harman was disheartened with whatever was being reported about him in the media and thought it was “unfair” on the part of the media to attack him personally instead of sticking to his professional life.
In a recent interview, Harman opened up about the times when he made sure that newspapers do not reach his house so that his mother does not get to read all the bad things which were being written about her son.
“I feel that the media was absolutely unfair to me. When I had done my first few films, a barrage of harsh and mean things was written (about me). It’s part and parcel of the business, but it hurts when it gets too personal. There were times when I’d make sure that the papers didn’t come home, or that my mom didn’t see them,” Harman told Mid-Day.
The actor added that his career didn’t pan out the way he assumed it would. “I quit because effectively, things didn’t pan out the way they initially (appeared]),” said Harman, while adding, “Today, the same family who avoided reading papers is now looking forward to the next article on me.”
Harman Baweja has finally got his due with Hansal Mehta’s recently released Netflix series Scoop. He is getting praise from both the audience and critics. In the series, Harman essays the role of JCP Harshvardhan Shroff, a role for which he made sure that the makers take his audition despite Mehta’s trust in him.
Scoop is an adaptation of journalist Jigna Vora’s biographical book Behind The Bars In Byculla: My Days in Prison. Karishma Tanna plays the ambitious crime journalist in the series, who becomes a murder suspect.
