Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja does not like to mince her words, which is clearly evident from her recent statements. She said her daughter Tina Ahuja’s career got sabotaged because of father Govinda, and their son Yash’s physical appearance added to his struggles.
Tina Ahuja marked her Bollywood debut with the romantic comedy Second Hand Husband in 2015. In an interview with Hindi Rush, Govinda’s wife Sunita talked about their daughter Tina’s desire to work and how people were scared that her father would come on her film’s sets to boss everyone. Sunita said, “The response was good. But, everyone has created a fear that if Tina works, then Govinda will come on the sets and abuse because he is a strict father. I don’t understand why people create such myths. She is waiting for a good role, she doesn’t need to struggle to run the house. Agar uske liye achha kaam aata hai, toh wo kyu nahi karegi? Aap log mauka toh do kaam karne ka (If she gets a good opportunity, then why wouldn’t she do it? Give her the opportunity to work).”
She further criticised nepotism in Bollywood and how opportunities are given only to a particular group of star kids. “Nepotism band karo na. Doosre logon ko bhi kaam karne ka mauka to do. Aap ek hi group mein sabko…wohi group mein kaam hota hai. Baahar bhi toh dekho, log aur bhi baithe hain. Abhi bhi she is open to work. Kaam milega, woh karegi, usko shauk bhi hai bohot kaam karne ka. Abhi ek hi actor ko aap kitni baar dekhoge (Stop nepotism. Give other people a chance to work too. Only a select group of star kids get work. Look outside, there are others too. Tina is open to work. If she gets work, she will do it. She is also very fond of working),” she added.
Recently, there were also rumours that Tina has quit the Bollywood industry. Denying the claims, her mother said, “Why do people say this, I don’t understand. Why would a kid who was born in the industry, leave it? She did a podcast recently, usi mai kuch aagaya tha.”
Their son Yash is also set to make his acting debut with a love story this year. When asked if their children are compared instantly with Govinda, Sunita replied, “No, no. I have even taught this to my son, that he should not copy his dad firstly. Make your own style. Do your own acting and dancing, I don’t want people to compare you with Govinda. I know that the industry and fans will try to draw comparisons. He (Govinda) had his own 90s style and he will have his 2025 style.”
In addition, Yash had his own fair share of struggles, especially while dealing with excessive weight. “Once, someone told him that he has to lose 8 kilos of weight, he didn’t eat food for a week. He is very hardworking. If he starts something, he makes sure to finish it. I always tell him, ‘You have to become a bigger man than Govinda’.”
