Good Newwz deals with in vitro fertilisation or IVF. The tagline of the film reads, “The biggest goof-up of the year.” A quirky poster of Good Newwz had Akshay and Diljit’s heads being squeezed by baby bumps of expecting mothers, played by Kareena and Kiara.
While Akshay Kumar is paired with Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh will share screen space with Kiara Advani in Good Newwz. Akshay and Kareena are reuniting after almost a decade — having worked together in films like Ajnabee, Aitraaz, Kambakht Ishq and Tashan.

The film is about in vitro fertilisation (IVF). More specifically, it deals with the confusion (and comedy) that arises from a mix-up suffered by two couples at an IVF hospital.
While Akshay Kumar is paired with Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh will share screen space with Kiara Advani in Good Newwz.

"We at Dharma have always maintained that everyone, including men and women, gets paid solidly for their art, craft and abilities. All of us here are for both commerce and art. None of us is here for only one. When it comes to female-led films, we have always made sure that there has never been a disparity at our end. There is now a profit share given. There is sometimes producer credit given to women where they have dominated or led the films," says Karan Johar.
"I love Hrishikesh Mukherjee's films. I always wanted to make such movies but Dharma has never made a film like that. When I went to Akshay's house, I went with a big film because he is a mega movie star. Akshay's uniqueness is that he searches for content. He never looks for scale, opulence or director. He is one superstar who has always supported first-time directors and that's rare for a movie star. This is his 23rd film with a debut director. He is the only movie star who has worked with so many debut directors. He never asks who the director is. Often, stars ask who the director is and what is his or her capability but Akshay looks for the vibe," says Karan Johar.
"When Raj narrated the script, I thought I was perfect for the role. I loved the script. It was so funny. I couldn't stop laughing. Also, it was such a great package. So, I was like why not. I was the first one to come on board," says Kareena Kapoor.
"My definition of good news is when actors take less fees for working with me. This is something Akshay has never given me," says Karan Johar.
Kareena Kapoor, who reunites with 3 Idiots co-star Aamir Khan in Lal Singh Chaddha, remarks, "I am sure we will live up to people's expectations."
"Akshay Kumar is one superstar who has continuously worked with new directors," says Karan Johar.
"Karan narrated me a story for almost 3 hours. Then I asked him what else he was making. He told me he was making a small film called Good Newwz. I asked him to narrate that film's story. After listening to it, I told him, 'Let's drop the other one and do Good Newwz.' I really liked this slice-of-life story," says Akshay Kumar.
"Earlier, I had this superstition with alphabet 'K'. Then I met Raj Mehta who is paranoid about everything. He and Azim, who is the music coordinator for the film, told me they would want to call it "A Good News, but I told them that this was grammatically incorrect. They then suggested that we should go for double W and replace S with Z. Even though I find it ridiculous, I felt we should do this because I don't want them to blame me later," says Karan Johar.
"I am fortunate to have made a film for Dharma Productions. I was really nervous when I started with such a big cast. It's a dream for any director to make his debut with such a stellar cast," says Good Newwz director Raj Mehta.
"I am very emotional right now. Raj and I go back a long way. He was the first one I told about doing Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. So, I am very happy that I am a part of his first film," says Good Newwz co-producer Shashank Khaitan.
"Raj Mehta is the 16th director we are launching. He has worked at Dharma for many years with Shashank Khaitan and Shakun Batra. Shashank has been a great mentor to Raj. So, I would like to thank Shashank," says Good Newwz producer Karan Johar.
