Before becoming an actor, Gauahar Khan was a successful model and even worked as a VJ for a few years. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about how a ‘diggaj personality’ once made her uncomfortable during an interview, when she was just 18 years old. Without naming him or his profession, Gauahar shared how the man held her hand throughout the conversation, and was even trying to ask for her number once the shoot was done.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Gauahar Khan was asked if she ever faced a moment where a star threw tantrums during her VJing days. She said, “He wouldn’t let go of my hand. I was like, ‘This is awkward. How do I pull my hand out?’,” adding that she sat through the whole interview like this, and revealing that the person in question has since passed.
The actor said that she was a huge fan of ‘his talent and work’ and didn’t want to offend him. However, her director noticed it and once they wrapped the shoot, he asked her to go to the room and lock it. “I didn’t know why he said that, but I followed his instruction. Later, I came to know that this star was asking for my number, where I was and why didn’t I meet him before leaving,” Gauahar recalled, sharing how she wondered why it was happening to her.
While this incident left a sour taste in her mouth, she went on to share a happy and cute anecdote about dancing superstar Govinda. Gauahar Khan shared that the actor had attended her cousin’s wedding when she was just around 2-3 years old. Every other family member was trying to push their kids ahead to get clicked with him. The Bigg Boss 7 winner said that her mother tells her how Hatya had just been released, and because she had the same hairstyle as a child in the film, Govinda picked her to click photos with.
“Years later, I went to interview him at his bungalow. Before I started, I told her I have a photo when I was just two-years old. He suddenly stood up and said, ‘Iss ladki ko yaha se bhejo (Take this girl out from here). I don’t want to do the interview’. I was shocked when he laughed out loudly asking me to sit down as he was just joking,” Gauahar Khan shared with a loud laugh. She added that the actor and his wife continue to be kind to her.
On the work front, Gauahar Khan is set to host Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11 with Rithvik Dhanjani.
