The movie Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, is doing incredibly well at the box office, and it recently crossed the Rs 300 crore mark in India. After making Rs 20.5 crore on Friday, it jumped by 55 percent on its second Saturday, collecting Rs 32 crore, according to industry analyst Sacnilk. So far, the movie has collected a total of Rs 336.13 crore in India and Rs 395.1 crores worldwide.

This is the biggest second Saturday of all time, ahead of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 26.5 crore), The Kashmir Files (Rs 24.8 crore) and Pathaan (Rs 22 crore). The movie is expected to have a big second weekend, with Sacnilk predicting that it might earn Rs 40 crore on Sunday. Despite competition from Rajinikanth’s Jailer and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, Gadar 2 had a strong start, earning an impressive Rs 40 crores on its first day.

Gadar 2 has even outperformed Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 320 crore), and by tomorrow, it’s set to surpass Tiger Zinda Hai (Rs 339 crore), PK (Rs 340 crore) and Sanju (Rs 342 crore) to become the fifth-highest grossing Hindi movie ever at the domestic box office.

After Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, Gadar 2 is the biggest post-pandemic hit of the Hindi industry. Other films like Tu Jhoothi Main Makkkar, Satyaprem Ki Katha, and Kerala Story also fared well at the box office. Helmed by Anil Sharma, Sunny and Ameesha reprise their roles as Tara Singh and Sakina in the film. Gadar 2 also stars Utkarsh Sharma.

The Indian Express critic Shubhra Gupta gave the film 1.5 stars and said that the film offers ‘nothing new.’ A part of the review read, “This iteration just reminds of you the loudness and the saccharine and the over-the-top dialoguing that new Bollywood had started shaking off, which we hoped was safely behind us. Clearly, in vain.”
