Fukrey 3 box office collection Day 1: Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi film opens with Rs 8.5 crore, races ahead of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan

Fukrey 3 released alongside Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War and while it seemed like the two films would be in for a competition, The Vaccine War only managed to make Rs 1.3 crore on its opening day. Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, which released earlier this month, is still going strong at the box office, even though the film’s tickets are now available on ‘buy 1 get 1’ offer. On its 22nd day, Jawan made Rs 5.50 crore, taking the film’s nett domestic collection to Rs 581.43 crore.

At the trailer launch of the film, producer Ritesh Sidhwani spoke about the trend of sequels working at the box office and said that there have been many franchises that have not sustained the momentum. “I know sequels which have not worked also. I am not going to name them. It works if the characters are great and there is enough love for the film for people to consume it. You should continue to make the film if you feel that the story is organically and seamlessly moving forward because there is already a fanbase for the film, but you have to deliver,” he said.

Fukrey 3, starring Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi, Varun Sharma, Pulkit Samrat, Manjot Singh, is directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba. Lamba has previously directed the first two parts of the franchise.
