Fast X, the 10th film in the Fast and Furious franchise, lived up to its title, as it recorded excellent collections in India on its opening couple of days. Starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Jason Momoa, among others, the actioner released on Thursday and recorded a double-digit opening, placing itself as the best Hollywood opener of the year in India.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Fast X earned Rs 12.50 Cr India net on its first day from all languages — English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. It is the biggest opener of the franchise in India in terms of nett collections, after Fast And Furious 7, which had opened to Rs 12.03 cr in 2015.
The opening day collections are higher than other Hollywood biggies of the year, including John Wick: Chapter 4 at Rs 10 cr, and two Marvel films, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which opened at Rs 9 cr and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which netted around Rs 7.30 cr.
On its second day of release, Fast X maintained its momentum as it clocked an impressive Rs 13.50 cr. The film’s two-day total now stands at Rs 26 cr, which is higher than all three Hollywood biggies. The two-day collections of Fast X have even crossed the lifetime hauls of Akshay Kumar’s Selfiee, which had clocked a mere Rs 16 cr in its entire run. Fast X is likely to record an extended opening weekend figure in the north of Rs 50 cr.
The Fast saga began over two decades ago with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker playing two guys on either side of the law. The latest installment, directed by Louis Leterrier, also features a plethora of stars, ranging from Brie Larson to John Cena and Jason Statham.
