Filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar, who directed Shah Rukh Khan in Don and Don 2, recently spoke about his experience working with the superstar. He lauded Shah Rukh for being easygoing yet hardworking on his films. He also analysed SRK’s stardom and the reasons behind its longevity.

In an interaction with Raj Shamani, Farhan discussed Shah Rukh’s work ethic, saying, “He is exceptionally charming and knowledgable. He reads a lot. He can talk about any topic and he will have his point of view on that. He is a good listener. He is well read and he is also interested in people. He is curious, adventurous. He likes to have a nice time and he doesn’t like the weight of things too much. He is fun guy to hang around.”

Talking about SRK’s stardom, the actor-filmmaker said, “There is this inherent charm he has that is magnetic and it is both on and off the screen. He is easy, it doesn’t feel laboured and that ease makes you feel comfortable. He works really hard and that has kept him where he is. I have met many people who love what they do. I have worked with Aamir Khan and Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka loves her work but with Shah Rukh Khan he gets obsessed with the project he is doing and as a director that motivates me.”

Besides Shah Rukh Khan, Don and Don 2 also starred Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. Both films were successful at the box office. Farhan is now gearing up to make Don 3, but this time Ranveer Singh will play the lead role. In an earlier interview with Variety, Farhan opened up about replacing Shah Rukh with Ranveer. He said, “These are things that we discussed over the years, I wanted to take a certain direction with the story, but somehow we (Shah Rukh Khan and I) just couldn’t find common ground. We just parted mutually knowing that it’s probably for the best. So that’s where it is.”
