Esha Deol is brimming with joy as her debut production venture, Ek Duaa, in which she also stars, received a special mention in the non-feature film category at the 69th National Film Awards. The actor, who is the daughter of legendary actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini, recently opened up about her parents’ reactions to her achievement and shared insights into their concerns about their kids being compared to their parents.
Following the announcement of the National Film Awards, Hema Malini took to Instagram to express her congratulations to her daughter. When asked about her father Dharmendra’s response, Esha shared that she always seeks his blessings. She told News18, “We always want our parents’ blessings no matter what we do in our life. We want their approval. Even as a mother, I encourage, support and bless my kids. It’s very important. So, when I took up a sensitive subject like Ek Duaa, they both told me to go ahead and do it.”
During the interview, Esha shed light on her parents’ longstanding concerns about their children facing scrutiny and comparisons to their illustrious careers. She said, “My parents are legends. Somewhere, they’ve always felt that since they’re so big, their seed who joins the same profession will always be looked at with scrutiny. So, they were very happy.”
In Ek Duaa, Esha Deol portrays the role of a mother who strives to advocate for her daughter Duaa’s right to equal love within a family that marginalises the girl child. The film, directed by Ram Kamal Mukherjee, also stars Auroshikha Dey and Aniruddha Joshi in pivotal roles.
