Dulquer Salmaan on Chup co-star Sunny Deol and Gadar 2's success: 'Nothing makes me happier than seeing him happy'

Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 has become one of the biggest box office hits of Bollywood this year. His Chup co-star Dulquer Salmaan said that he loves it.

Sunny Deol is the man of the hour as the Bollywood star has made a resounding comeback after more than a decade with Gadar 2. The sequel to the blockbuster film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001), Gadar 2 has earned more than Rs Rs 388 crore in 11 days. The film is expected to cross the collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and become the biggest box office hit of 2023 in Hindi, which would also make it the biggest Hindi-language hit ever. In a recent interview, Dulquer Salmaan, who acted with Sunny Deol in Chup: The Revenge of the Artist, expressed immense joy at his colleague’s success.

“I feel happy for him. I know the amount of work he puts into films. I know he has some aches and pains… he went through some surgery and stuff. And he now goes and does this full-on action film, and he has put everything into this. Nothing makes me happier than seeing his videos and pictures now… even if he is coming out of the airport or pictures of him on a plane… he just looks so happy and glowing. I love it,” Dulquer Salmaan said in an interview with Siddharth Kannan.

Dulquer is one among many stars who are praising Sunny Deol and Gadar 2. At the recent Express Adda event, filmmaker Karan Johar said that Gadar 2’s success has ‘blown everyone’s brains‘. In an interview, even Sunny Deol admitted that he couldn’t believe audiences still had love for him. He said the industry needs more such hits to get back on its feet.

Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 tells the story of a father’s quest to save his son from enemy clutches. Set in the ’70s, the film also stars Ameesha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, and Gaurav Chopra. Despite mixed reviews, Gadar 2 has become an immense hit, earning Sunny Deol a spot in the comeback club of veteran stars Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, who have also reclaimed their market status with their respective hits Vikram and Jailer.
