Diljit Dosanjh has unveiled the trailer of his upcoming film Sardaarji 3. However, the trailer has drawn backlash from a section of the audience for featuring Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in a lead role opposite Diljit, despite the ongoing ban on Pakistani artists amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Diljit shared the Sardaarji trailer on Instagram, declaring that the film will have an overseas-only release.
The trailer of the horror-comedy film shows Hania Aamir and Diljit Dosanjh playing ghost hunters who are tasked with removing ghosts from a mansion in the UK. After Hania fails to trap the ghost, she calls Diljit for help, who arrives at the mansion with Neeru Bajwa. The following scenes in the trailer show Diljit romancing both Hania and Neeru, while veteran actor Gulshan Grover is also seen playing a key role.
The YouTube link for the Sardaar Ji 3 trailer has been geo-blocked in India. Diljit shared the trailer on Instagram and wrote, “Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only 🌍 FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN 👻.”
A certain section of fans expressed disappointment over Pakistani actor Hania Aamir featuring in Sardaarji 3, especially given India’s ban on Pakistani artists. One person wrote on Reddit, “Disgusted by him. So all the allegations against him being a separatist is kinda true I feel. What a shameless person he is.” Another user questioned how Diljit remained quiet after the Pahalgam attack and during Operation Sindoor. A comment read, “Never spoke a word during the war… now we know why… I liked him but the opinion is now changing highly.”
Sardaarji 3 is directed by Amar Hundal and is the third installment in the hit Punjabi horror-comedy franchise. The first film, Sardaar Ji, released in 2015, starred Diljit and Neeru Bajwa in the lead roles. Its sequel, Sardaar Ji 2, released in 2016, featured Sonam Bajwa alongside Diljit. Now, Sardaarji 3 is slated to hit the screens exclusively overseas on June 27, 2025.
