The trailer for Dhak Dhak, released on October 9, offers a glimpse into the film’s lead actors – Ratna Pathak Shah, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Dia Mirza, and Sanjana Sanghi – embarking on a daring motorcycle adventure through the challenging terrain of Leh. In a recent conversation, the actors revealed that none of them, except Fatima, knew how to ride a bike before they started shooting for the movie. Even the most senior member of the team, Ratna, undertook the challenge of learning to ride a bike at the age of 65.

Reflecting on her unique experience, Ratna told Bollywood Hungama, “I have driven bikes in my dreams many times. I used to look at bike riders and think that someday I will too ride a bike but I didn’t know that at the age of 65, I will have to ride a bike.”

Despite her newfound skill, Ratna hesitates to label herself as a biker. She elaborated, “I had a lot of help. There were a lot of people who trained me. When I was driving in Mumbai, it was beautiful. It was fine till Delhi also but when I was driving at high-altitude while reaching Khardung La, it does something to you. I got a little scared. Then I became very nervous. I still can’t say that I really know how to ride a bike because I won’t be able to drive in traffic for sure.”

Ratna Pathak Shah’s journey wasn’t the only challenge. Dia Mirza, who joined the project less than a year after giving birth to her son, had to confront her fears and learn bike riding. She said, “I had just given birth to my child. He was less than a year old when we were shooting for this film. I can’t tell you at how many levels this film has spoken to me.”

Dhak Dhak revolves around the adventures of four ordinary women who cross paths and embark on a remarkable journey together, riding to Leh’s Khardung La, the world’s highest motorable pass. As they confront various obstacles during their expedition, the quartet forms an unbreakable bond. Produced by Taapsee Pannu’s Outsiders Films in collaboration with Viacom18 Studios, Dhak Dhak is directed by Tarun Dudeja and is set to hit theatres on October 13.
