Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, who will soon be welcoming their first baby, had a dreamy wedding in Italy over five years ago and until their appearance on Koffee with Karan in 2023, the couple had never shared a video from their wedding. Like many other celebrity couples, they shared a few photos at the time but when they finally released their wedding teaser with the divine melody of ‘Ik Onkar’ playing in the background, their fans watched emotionally.
Vishal Punjabi of The Wedding Filmer, who filmed their wedding shared on the All About Eve podcast that he had made peace with the fact that Ranveer and Deepika might never release their wedding video. He said that some people believe in the concept of evil eye and he understands that sentiment. “You’ll be surprised Deepika and Ranveer didn’t share it for five years. I thought it will never be seen,” he said and added, “I guess sometimes, some things are so beautiful, you don’t want to share it with the world. Nazar na lage, as mums would say, and I get that sentiment.” Vishal said that the internet is quite toxic sometimes so celebrities are not very keen about sharing moments from their special days.
Vishal has also filmed other high-profile celebrity weddings like Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra. He shared that such high-profile weddings are also “very intimate” and there’s a reason behind it. “Most of the film stars, they do this for a living. They get ready everyday with hair and makeup, wardrobe, surrounding them, fussing over them. So when you are getting married, you want to keep it chill, you want to keep it relaxed, you want to keep just the people you love,” he said.
Speaking about Anushka-Virat and Deepika-Ranveer’s wedding, he said that both were “intimate, sweet, beautiful weddings with people who they were really close to, people they talk to everyday. They didn’t call the whole world. For that, they did a big reception party when they came back. They have fine taste and they can afford cooler things. And they looked stunning.”
Vishal also said that the song playing in the background in Ranveer-Deepika’s wedding was sung live by Harshdeep Kaur but for the video, Vishal managed to rope in an entire team with lyric writers and musicians so they could record the song separately and use it in the wedding teaser. And he did it all discreetly as they sign strict non-disclosure agreements before filming celebrity weddings.
Ranveer and Deepika got married in 2018. The couple is expecting their first baby in September.
