Dazzling Juhi Chawla steals LFW show in Marathi avatar

Juhi Chawla glided down the ramp in an elegant maroon floor length Anarkali dress.

Dressed in traditional Marathi attire, actress Juhi Chawla today paid a befitting tribute to weavers on the runway as a show stopper for designer Shruti Sancheti.

Working for over a year with the Maharashtra State Handlooms Corporation founded in 1971,Shruti’s collection, called “Saaj”,was a tribute to weavers of Maharashtra State Handloom Corporation at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013.

The collection had Indian traditional silhouettes like ghagra, anarkali, palazzos, lehengas, cholis, achkans, asymmetric kalidaars, saris, tunics and jumpsuits ornamented with ancient Peshwai jewellery.

The rich and vibrant assorting of colours like gold, crimson, fuchsia, green, indigo blue and purple created a riot on the ramp.

To give a Maharashtrian flavour to her collection,Shruti added amazing Paithani embroidery along with aari work and resham.

Juhi glided down the ramp in an elegant maroon floor length Anarkali dress. She wore a nath (nose ring) and a typical Maharashtrian necklace.

Another designer Soumitra’s “Bunon’ collection offered a contemporary line but with strong traditional touches.
