Can you press the delete button and wipe out your heartbreak? Ananya Panday is set to find out in the latest Netflix thriller CTRL. The streaming giant on Wednesday dropped the trailer of CTRL, which is helmed by filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane.
The trailer opens with Ananya Panday signing up on an app which will “take control” of her life and “happiness” if she commands it to do so. No surprise, she does, and hell breaks loose. The trailer of CTRL shows Ananya happily in a relationship with her boyfriend (Vihaan Samat), as the couple make memories and show it to the world on the internet.
Their life and love story are documented on the web, so, when she catches him cheating on her, Ananya takes the best route forward: Log in to an app which can help her “erase” her ex-boyfriend. The only problem? He actually goes missing from real life, setting off the investigation into his disappearance with Ananya being accused in his “murder” case.
Calling CTRL a “totally unique” journey, Vikramaditya Motwane said the film is told in “what we call the screen life format, which is telling a story in an almost voyeuristic way using the tech that we use literally every single day.”
Ananya, who was recently seen in Call Me Bae, said her character Nella is caught up in a world “dominated by technology and social media.” The actor said CTRL explores how one navigates the fine line between “our online presence and who we are in real life.”
Watch the trailer of CTRL:
“Working with Vikram sir and Nikhil sir has been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait for you to watch it on Netflix and uncover the connection between Nella and Allen,” she added.
Director, Original Films Netflix, Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh praised Ananya Panday and said her “compelling performance elevates the film,” which is set to stream on October 4.
A Saffron and Andolan production in association with Travelin Bone, CTRL is written by Avinash Sampath and Motwane, with dialogues by comedian Sumukhi Suresh. The film is produced by Nikhil Dwivedi and Arya A Menon.
Nikhil called Vikramaditya Motwane a “very unique talent” and noted how Ananya is “proving herself to be quite a superior artist with every passing work of hers.”
“When Vikram brought this script to me, I observed that it had an extremely innovative narrative, and it was something I really wanted to back and now I am very eager to see it as a full feature and how it resonates with wider audience all across the world,” he added.
