Choreographer Chinni Prakash, in a recent interaction, recalled being on the sets of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan’s iconic film Karan Arjun. He shared an interesting anecdote about how both Shah Rukh and Salman came to the rescue of girls on set when some boys in the area misbehaved with them.

Chinni reminisced about shooting the song “Bhangra Paale” in rural Rajasthan. Speaking on the YouTube channel Friday Talkies, he said, “It was an iconic song because both the heroes were dancing together, and they both were upcoming superstars. Salman was very close to me because I did his second film. Shah Rukh was not close to us. He was a little away.”

Recalling the incident, he said, “During the shoot, one of the villagers started teasing girls on the set. Salman got very angry. Shah Rukh picked up lathis and started beating them. A big fight started. Then Salman, me and Shah Rukh, we took the girls in a van and took them to the hotel.”

Talking about the culture of drinking on sets back then, Chinni Prakash said, “We all used to stay in a guest house and we used to do rehearsals on the rooftop of the guest house. Rakesh Roshan (director of the film) made sure that everybody came for rehearsals daily. Both would (shows a sign of drinking) before coming to rehearsals, and rehearsals would go on until early morning because both the things would go together.”

Karan Arjun was theatrically released in India on 13 January 1995. The film received positive reviews and was a massive hit at the box office. Though Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan appeared together in several films after that, they were never seen again as the two main leads.

Interestingly, Salman recently made a cameo in SRK’s son Aryan Khan’s debut show The B**ds of Bollywood. On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen in King. He announced the film’s title on Sunday, on the occasion of his birthday. Salman, meanwhile, has Battle of Galwan in the pipeline.
