Speaking at the inaugural function of the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, the Prime Minister spoke about the impact of Chhaava in furthering the cause of Marathi literature and cinema. “Ye Maharashtra aur Mumbai hi hai jisne Marathi filmo ke saath saath, Hindi cinema ko ye unchaai di hai. He also spoke about how the introduction of Sambhaji Maharaj to the present-day audience in this feature film form was possible because of the historical novel, Chhaava, written by Shivaji Sawant. “Sambhaji Maharaj ke shaurya se, iss roop mein parichay, Shivaji Sawant ke Marathi upanyas ne hi karaya hai.”

These words boosted the confidence of the makers of Chhaava, who expressed their gratitude for the recognition. Overwhelmed by the words, Vicky shared the video on Instagram, and wrote, “Honoured beyond words! Grateful to Hon. PM Narendra Modi ji. #Chhaava.”

Acknowledging the honour, Rashmika Mandanna wrote, “Thank you so much Narendra Modi sir, it’s truly an honour.” Even Maddock Films wrote a heartfelt post of gratitude, and called it a ‘historic honour.’ “It’s a great moment of pride as Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji applauds ‘Chhaava’ and honours Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s sacrifice and legacy,” they wrote while sharing a video of the Prime Minister’s speech.
