Actors Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor said that their father, film producer Boney Kapoor, is now a woke man who continues to defy expectations by becoming increasingly ‘cool’ over the years. On the latest episode of Koffee with Karan, the sisters spoke about their father’s acting career, his obsession with airport looks, and how pricey he can sometimes behave.
On the episode, when host Karan Johar highlighted the generation gap between them and their “traditional” father, Janhvi said, “He has become quite cool now. We shocked him a lot. Now he is shocking us!”

When Karan asked if he is comfortable hanging out with their boyfriends, Janhvi avoided acknowledging her relationship, and said, “He is hanging out with our ‘friends’. Now I am feeling like he is from a generation that’s not been born yet. Because I am not prepared for how woke he is.” Janhvi Kapoor is dating Shikhar Pahariya while Khushi is reportedly in a relationship with The Archies actor Vedang Raina.
Karan Johar then noted how Boney’s Instagram is “full of his own airport looks”, to which the sisters replied that he takes it very seriously. Janhvi said, before the pictures are put on social media, they get them on their family WhatsApp group. “You all get the filtered version on Instagram, we get 50-60 images. He sends his own images! He spams us. I am surprised you haven’t gotten his images, he sends it to everyone. I have gone for work meetings, and the director/producer’s phone has been buzzing and not like this person is close to my dad. He is like, ‘How funny. Your dad just messaged. He has sent me… Nice new shoes.’ I am like, ‘Yes sir, can we now get back to talking’.”
During the chat, Karan also mentioned that he head heard Boney Kapoor was upset after he was not shown in the trailer of Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Tu Jhooti Main Makkar, which marked his acting debut. “Ya. He felt like, ‘Wohi toh selling point hai tumhari film ki, mujhe he nahi dikhaya!’ Janhvi said.
“He was playing himself. I went on sets and there were 13 suitcases of only his clothes which he had gotten from home. He styled himself, he wears these clothes in real life.” Khushi added, while Janhvi mentioned that he made sure to include this in his contract.
