Bhumi Pednekar shares snippets from the time she met with real-life Jaya from Toilet Ek Prem Katha.

Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s blockbuster hit Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was a compelling real-life story which brought out the issue of open defecation. Talking about this problem in the country, the film was a hard-hitting portrayal of reality by director Shree Narayan Singh. And today, on World Toilet Day, actor Bhumi Pednekar who essays the role of Jaya in the film has shared some snippets from the time she met real-life Jaya i.e Anita Harre at her house.

Bhumi writes, “It’s #WorldToiletDay & our efforts to provide a toilet & end open defection should not stop.Educate people to say No to open defecation.Thats contribution enough.Access to a Toilet is your right not a luxury.Building a clean and strong India. :)🇮🇳🙏🏻.”

Sharing part 1 of the video, Bhumi wrote, “The problem of open defection is a lot more than bad hygiene.It’s a threat to a woman’s security,dignity and health.#AnitaNarre showed courage,took a bold step and truly started a movement #OpenDefecationFreeIndia #ToiletEkPremKatha #RealJaya.”

She also shares a conversation with Anita where Anita tells her how she and her husband collected money for the toilet. “#Anitanarre her husband collected money to build her a toilet.She knew her rights and fought for them 🙏🏻 #WorldToiletDay #ToiletEkPremKatha #OpenDefecationFreeIndia”
