Bhagyashree thought Salman Khan was flirting with her during Maine Pyar Kiya’s song shoot: ‘He sat next to me, started singing in my ear’

Bhagyashree recalled the shoot of 'Dil Deewana' when she felt like Salman Khan was flirting with her.

Bhagyashree made her debut with Salman Khan in Sooraj Barjatya’s much loved film Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989. In a recent interview, Bhagyashree recalled that she and Salman developed a strong friendship while shooting which got strengthened even further after Salman got to know about her love story with Himalaya Dasani. Bhagyashree said that she first thought that Salman was probably flirting with her but later realised that he was trying to tease her about her then boyfriend Himalaya. Bhagyashree and Himalaya got married shortly after that.

In an interview posted on Kovid Gupta Films’ YouTube channel, Bhagyashree recalled that it was during the shoot of “Dil Deewana” when one day, Salman came and sat right next to her and started singing the song in her ear. She recalled, “Salman came and sat right next to me and started singing the song into my ear. He had always been such a gentleman on set and so nice to me that I couldn’t understand. Well, it just seemed like crossing the line over flirting and I said, ‘Why is he doing this?'”

Bhagyshree said that Salman would follow her around singing the same song as she kept wondering the reason behind the change in his behaviour. “He would follow me around and keep singing the song and I was like ‘What’s happening here?’ He finally took me to the side and he said, ‘I know who you are in love with,'” she recalled and as soon as she asked what he knew, Salman said Himalaya’s name. “He said, ‘I know about Himalaya. Why don’t you call him here?’ I was like, ‘Oh my god! This can’t be happening,'” she recalled.

Bhagyashree said that after this moment, she found a special friendship with Salman Khan. So much so that when her family refused to attend her wedding, it was Salman and director Sooraj Barjatya who stood by her side as she got married to the love of her life. “From that moment onwards, there was a special connection that I shared with Salman because he was like my buddy who knew everything and he knew all the secrets. So, when we got married, Salman and Sooraj ji were the people from my side because my family didn’t attend my wedding,” she said.

Bhagyashree and Himalaya got married in 1990. They are parents to son Abhimanyu and daughter Avantika, who are both actors.
