Bhagyashree shot to stardom when she made her debut in Sooraj Barjatya’s 1989 film Maine Pyar Kiya alongside Salman Khan. Even after 34 years, she is known for her character Suman who became the template for the girl-next-door in Hindi cinema. And even though Bhagyashree got immense popularity for her role, she recently said that she suffered from “inferiority complex” after delivering a massive hit.
The actor, in a chat with Radio Nasha, was asked what she would like to tell her younger self and she instantly said, “Be more confident.” The actor added. “I think I wasn’t confident. I was constantly worried whether I was doing things in the right way.” Bhagyashree admitted that she had “inferiority complex” and said that “even after Maine Pyar Kiya, I was feeling like I wasn’t good enough.”
Bhagyashree became a household name after the success of Maine Pyar Kiya and was flooded with film offers. After appearing in a few monies, she chose to step away from the limelight as she tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend Himalaya Dassani.
Bhagyashree, in the same chat, also opened up about choosing motherhood over a film career and said that she felt like she wasn’t capable enough at the time to handle everything. “I was too young at the time and in my opinion, I did not have the capability where I could look after myself, look after my family, also look after the kids. I had just gotten married. Abhimanyu was born just a year after that. I think I was too young to handle all these responsibilities together,” she said.
Bhagyashree will next be seen in NRI Wives. She recently appeared in a cameo in Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.
