While we are all aware of rapper Badshah‘s songs, do you know the story behind why the rapper went from Aditya to Badshah? While Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia was the name given to him by his parents, the rapper changed it to Badshah for professional use. Recently, in a conversation with Nikhil Kamath, Kriti Sanon, and KL Rahul, the rapper revealed he chose the name Badshah because he is a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan. Soon, the conversation became about the superstar with each of them revealing what they think of the Pathaan star.
In the latest episode of his podcast, when Nikhil asked the rapper how did he decide on the name Badshah, he revealed he is a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan. Badshah said, “I am a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan.” To this, Nikhil quickly added, “I love Shah Rukh Khan.” Kriti too joined the conversation and said, “I love him.” She added, “He is one of those few people who you are a fan of and then you meet him and become a bigger fan.”
The conversation came back to Badshah deciding his stage name. He said the fact that he was Shah Rukh Khan’s fan is why he renamed himself Badshah. Kriti then asked the rapper, “Did you feel the need to change your name from Aditya to Badshah?” The rapper said, “Yes.”
He added, “Prior to this, I used to rap in English and my name used to be Cool Equal.”
This shocked them all. The rapper further revealed, “coolequal@hotmail.com was my email id back then. So once when they were about to announce my name on stage, they asked me, ‘What do we call you?’ I couldn’t think of any name and I blurted out, ‘Cool Equal.'” He, however, insisted that the name Badshah was a conscious decision that he made.
Badshah is known for his songs “Bad Boy”, “Kar Gayi Chull”, “Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai”, “DJ Wale Babu”, and “Garmi”, among others.
