A Harsha is no Ahmed Khan or even Sabbir Khan. His film, Baaghi 4, is the lowest-earning instalment of Tiger Shroff’s hit action thriller franchise. After registering the franchise’s lowest domestic box office weekend, Baaghi 4 witnessed a drastic dip in numbers on its first Monday. Baaghi 4 managed to collect only Rs 4.25 crore on Monday, a massive drop from its Sunday earnings of Rs 10 crore. That was a minor improvement on its earnings on Saturday at Rs 9.25 crore. However, its highest single-day earnings remain Rs 12 crore, which it earned on its opening day. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the current box office collection of Baaghi 4, after four days, stands at Rs 35.5 crore.

As compared to the other releases of this year, Baaghi 4 has now surpassed Rosshan Andrrews’ cop thriller Deva (Rs 33.97 crore), starring Shahid Kapoor. Its upcoming targets include the re-release earnings of Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru’s 2016 romantic comedy Sanam Teri Kasam (Rs 35.55 crore), starring Harshvardhan Rane; the Hindi dubbed version of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s crime thriller Coolie (Rs 37.16 crore), starring Rajinikanth; and Vishal Furia’s mythological horror film Maa (Rs 38.63 crore), starring Kajol.

Even when compared to the earlier instalments of the Baaghi franchise, the fourth part has had the lowest collections. Within the first four days, Ahmed Khan’s Baaghi 3 (2020) had earned Rs 62.89 crore despite the box office performance being affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Previously, his Baaghi 2 (2018), had earned Rs 90.2 crore within the same period. Even Sabbir Khan’s Baaghi (2016) had collected Rs 45.3 crore in the first four days. While the first and third instalments starred Shraddha Kapoor opposite Tiger, the second part featured Disha Patani as the leading lady.

There are multiple reasons why the box office progress of Baaghi 4 has been rather slow. Firstly, it’s been certified ‘A’ (Adults Only) because of the excessive violence and bloodshed. Secondly, it’s facing stiff competition from Michael Chaves’ Hollywood horror film The Conjuring: Last Rites, which has earned Rs 55.5 crore within the first four days at the India box office.

Baaghi 4 also stars Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu and Punjabi star Sonam Bajwa, alongside Shreyas Talpade, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Sanjay Dutt as the chief antagonist. It is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under his production banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. The film features Shroff as Ronny, a man who, after surviving a suicide attempt, descends into chaos as reality blurs.

Ahmed Khan, who took over the Baaghi franchise from the second part, had to step away from the fourth instalment because he’s busy directing Welcome to the Jungle, the third instalment of the comedy franchise Welcome, headlined by Akshay Kumar. This would mark his return to comedy 18 years after Fool & Final. He’s also collaborated with Tiger on another action film, Heropanti 2, in 2022. That film earned only Rs 16.8 crore in the first four days at the domestic box office.
