Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha box office collection day 1: The Neeraj Pandey directorial starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu has opened to disastrous box office numbers in India. According to the early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the romantic drama has earned just Rs 2 crore on its first day in India. The film released against Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah’s Ulajh, which performed even worse than the Neeraj Pandey film. This has emerged as Ajay Devgn’s weakest opener since his 2009 film All The Best which opened with Rs 1.82 crore.

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’s opening day collection is lower than Ajay Devgn’s other two releases of the year Maidaan (Rs 7.25 crore) and Shaitaan (Rs 15.21 crore). The poor earning is despite both Tabu and Ajay Devgn having hits at the box office this year with Crew and Shaitaan respectively.

The Neeraj Pandey film has had a worse opening than Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira which made Rs 2.4 crore at the box office and shocked the trade analysts. Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha was postponed from its original release date as at the time, Kalki 2898 AD was dominating the box office but looks like that did not help the film’s chances.

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha had an overall 9.16 percent occupancy on its opening day with majority of the crowd showing up for the night show. In Delhi NCR, where the film had 667 shows, the occupancy was around 8.25 percent and in Mumbai, where it had 559 shows, the occupancy was 11 percent.

The romantic drama opened to negative reviews on release date and it seems highly unlikely that the film will be able to bounce back over the weekend.

The release of these two films had no impact on the Hollywood film Deadpool and Wolverine, which earned Rs 4.25 crore on its second Friday, which is more than both Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Ulajh combined.
