Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan had an impressive debut at the box office, breaking records by earning Rs 75 crore on its opening day. This film marked the Bollywood debut of director Atlee. SRK plays a dual role in the movie. In an interview, his body double of 17 years, Prashant Walde, opened up about Atlee’s dedication and discipline on the Jawan set. He recalled an anecdote about seeing Atlee ditch his car in a traffic jam and walk to set because the filmmaker didn’t want to be late.
In an interview with Aaj Tak, Prashant recalled the time they were shooting in Mumbai’s Kalina area. He said that one day, former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s convoy was passing through that area, and there was a traffic jam. While he waited for the jam to clear, he saw something that took him by surprise. He said, “I was stuck in the traffic. There, I saw Atlee sir walking past my car. He was rushing. I told him to sit in my car, but he said no. He said that the call time was 6 p.m. and he did not want to be late.”
Prashant also recalled that the film had a crew of approximately 1200-1500 people on the set, and that Atlee handled everything very well. He said, “When I got to know that the director of the film, Atlee, has offered me Jawan, I was very excited. Ever since we shot the teaser I had this feeling that this film will do even better than Pathaan. It was not only me, but the entire crew, which was around 1500 people, who all felt that this film would do wonders.”
Jawan also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. After earning Rs 53 crore on its second day, Jawan has already crossed the Rs 200 crore gross mark worldwide.
