Actor Arshad Warsi says he has made peace with how the industry functions with regards to film family kids getting an upper hand–in terms of getting multiple opportunities to prove themselves–while those not connected to the industry will always have to “struggle” all over again after they deliver a flop.

Warsi, who began his journey in films with the 1996 drama Tere Mere Sapne, said he is thankful to megastar Amitabh Bachchan, actor Jaya Bachchan and director Joy Augustine for betting on him even when he was a rank outsider.

In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Arshad Warsi was asked about his comment that there is always a long climb back for him every time he delivers a flop. The actor said he is not the only one in the bracket, “there are a lot of us like that”.

“It is a sad thing but what can you do? There is a certain segment of actors, who are a little more privileged than the other segment. Yes I am talking about kids connected to the film industry. Then there are people who are not connected to the industry. I can’t complain, the film industry has given me a lot, and I love it and I thank them all the time. I literally, every morning, thank Joy Augustine, Jaya Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, because of them I have got what I have got. So, nothing against the industry but this is the norm.”

Warsi said his statement doesn’t come from a space of complain but simply an observation over how nepotism works– and confessed that he would probably go out and do the same for his kids.

“I am not even complaining, I accept it. The sad part is I probably would do the same things with my kids. But yes, it is a difficult thing. You have a segment of actors who will get multiple chances to give a hit and then you have another segment who do not get that. You give one flop, you are doomed; you have to struggle all the way again to get back. So that is a sad part,” he added.

Arshad Warsi is currently seen in the acclaimed series Asur 2, which is streaming on JioCinema.
