The hearing of actor Salman Khan’s revision petition in the 1998 Arms Act case was deferred on Tuesday after Justice Vijay Vishnoi of Rajasthan High Court recused himself from the case.
Justice Vishnoi referred the matter to Chief Justice Sunil Ambwani, requesting him to put the case before another bench. Justice Ambwani will now delegate the case to another judge. “Now the Chief Justice will decide which court would hear this petition. Till then we would have to wait,” Salman’s counsel said.
The Vishnoi community revers the black buck, an animal protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. It is categorised as “near threatened” in the IUCN red list.

Salman, along with some other actors, is facing charges for using unlicensed weapons to poach two black bucks at Kankani village on the outskirts of Jodhpur, while shooting for the film Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1998.
Last week, a Jodhpur court had rejected the actor’s revision petition seeking permission to summon five prosecution witnesses in the case.
The five witnesses had already been examined but after the trial court allowed the prosecution to call four new witnesses, Salman’s lawyers made a fresh plea to call those witnesses again.
