Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has revealed that music maestro AR Rahman got the tune for one of the songs in Delhi 6 through a dream. Mehra shared that Rahman woke him up at 4:35 am to tell him about the dream and the song.

In an interview with O2 India, Mehra said, “We all bow down to the light above, you know which gives us the energy to live this life. Yet, I feel there are so many misgivings in myself. I am so incomplete as a person. So, I said, ‘Let’s do a song around that.’”

He continued, “Then, almost after a year or maybe a little more than that, early morning, I distinctly remember, it must be around 4:35 in the morning, and I had fallen asleep on his sofa (Rahman) set in the studio in Chennai. He woke me up and said he just had a dream and he got the tune. The tune came in the dream, and he had jammed on the piano for 37 minutes. He said, ‘There is a tune somewhere here. Do you want to hear it?’ I said, ‘Was this in your dream?’ He said, ‘Bang on,’ and that song became Arziyan.”

“Arziyan” was crooned by Javed Ali and Kailash Kher. The lyrics were written by Prasoon Joshi.

The 2009 film Delhi 6 stared Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Atul Kulkarni, Divya Dutta, Om Puri and Rishi Kapoor among others.
