Following the underwhelming performance of director Maneesh Sharma’s Tiger 3 (2023), Bollywood star Salman Khan is gearing up for a major comeback with AR Murugadoss’ political action thriller Sikandar. Renowned for directing high-octane star vehicles, this marks Murugadoss’ first collaboration with Salman, raising expectations significantly.

At Sikandar’s trailer launch event on Sunday, Salman reflected on his experience working on the film, highlighting how Murugadoss constantly pushed him, especially in action sequences, to bring out his best. It seems that he broke his usual habit of avoiding early morning shoots too for Sikandar, committing to 14-hour schedules even while grappling with a rib injury. Sharing the experience, he recalled shooting from 7 am to 9 pm on some days despite the injury. “Murugadoss kept pushing me even in action sequences,” he shared. Addressing his injury, Salman remarked, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”

Back in September, Salman Khan had revealed at a Bigg Boss event that he had fractured two ribs. A viral video showed him making his way to a vanity van, surrounded by photographers, as he urged them to be cautious. “Aaram se, do pasliyan tooti hain (Be careful, I have two broken ribs),” he said, as he stepped into the vanity van.

Meanwhile, after photos of Salman looking “out of shape” recently went viral, raising concerns about his fitness, the actor clarified that it was merely due to sleep deprivation. “Kabhi 5-6 din se sote nahi toh log photo daal ke bol dete hain. But I wanted to show them ki abhi bhi hai. (Sometimes, when I haven’t slept properly for 5–6 days, people post my photos and make assumptions. But I wanted to show them I still have it in me.)”

Also starring Rashmika Mandanna and Sathyaraj, Sikandar will hit the screens next Sunday (March 30), coinciding with the festive occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. The film’s cinematography is handled by S Thirunavukarasu, with editing by Vivek Harshan. Pritam has composed the soundtrack, with lyrics by Sameer, while acclaimed South Indian composer Santhosh Narayanan has crafted the background score.
