Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Ugly’ releases today

'Ugly' is an emotional thriller revolving around the disappearance of a 10-year-old girl after she is kidnapped from a bustling street in the city.

After last week’s big release, ‘PK’, we have Anurag Kashyap’s drama thriller ‘Ugly’ hitting screens this Friday.

The film is said to be an emotional thriller revolving around the disappearance of a 10-year-old girl after she is kidnapped from a bustling street in the city. Former TV actor Rahul Bhat plays the father, while Tejaswini Kolapure is the mother, shattered after her child goes missing.

Ronit Roy plays the ACP as well as the little girl’s stepfather who will go to any length to solve the mystery of the girl’s disappearance. Both fathers will stop at nothing to find the child and prove their competence to the other.

‘Ugly ‘ also features Vineet Kumar Singh, Surveen Chawla and Siddhanth Kapoor. Though the film releases this week, it has already made its way around the world. ‘Ugly’ was screened at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and the 2014 New York Indian Film Festival.

It was to hit screens in the country around the second half of 2013, however, it’s release was delayed as Anurag Kashyap was fighting against the Indian Censor Board’s decision to post a ‘Smoking is Injurious to Health’ onscreen whenever a character was shown smoking.
