Rupali Ganguly-starrer Anupamaa has been on air for over four years now but in the last few months, a few actors have quit the show. Madalsa Sharma, who was a part of the show from the beginning, and played Kavya, recently quit Anupamaa and in a recent interview, Madalsa opened up about her off-screen equation with Rupali. Madalsa shared that there were a few incidents where she learnt about Rupali speaking about her behind her back which caused her hurt. She also added that eventually, they made up.

Talking to Siddharth Kannan, Madalsa, when asked about her relationship with Rupali, said, “Sometimes, I felt that someone is a certain way in front of us, but they aren’t the same behind our backs. A few times, I felt that things were not said in a very polished way about me and when I got to know, it hurt me. I was like ‘Why?’ Firstly, I have nothing against you, we are actors we work together.”

When asked about what incidents triggered this reaction, Madalsa said, “There were a couple of incidents where I was genuinely hurt. I mean I haven’t done anything to you for you to behave this way with me. Or if I have done something wrong, then I will understand perhaps why someone is acting this way with me but when I haven’t done anything… Then I was like, either you be this way in front of me as well that if you don’t like me, say it to my face but don’t talk behind my back.”

Madalsa was categorically asked about the hurtful things she had heard about herself but she said that it was “nothing derogatory” and added that these were all little incidents that sometimes get miscommunicated on a big set as there are many people participating in the making of the show. She then shared that Rupali and her actually resolved all their conflicts and clarified their misunderstandings.

When asked who initiated the conflict resolution between them, Madalsa said it was mutual. “We would just look into each other’s eyes and just know that things are a little disturbed between us so let’s sort it out. We would sit together, talk about it and then move on, and we would hug it out also. Like forget it now, bygones are bygones. Neither of us took an initiative to resolve anything, it was just organic. Organic and respectful,” she said.

Madalsa shared that Rupali texted her when she announced her departure from the show. “She texted me afterwards. She said all the best, don’t disappear and be in touch, and we’ll catch up and talk in leisure. This happened just a day or two after I quit,” she said. When asked if she would miss Rupali, Madalsa said a firm “no” but she immediately added that she will miss everyone. “I will miss everyone actually, not just her. I will miss everyone in a way that these were all familiar faces but not like how you miss your best friends,” she said.
