Anupam Kher remembers last conversation with Satish Kaushik three hours before his death: ‘Go to the hospital, get yourself admitted’

Anupam Kher revisited his first and final conversations with his friend, the late actor-director Satish Kaushik.

Actor Anupam Kher shared a strong friendship with late Bollywood actor-director Satish Kaushik, who passed away last year, following a heart attack. Recently, Kher revisited his first meeting with Kaushik at drama school in 1975. The Saaransh star also recalled the last conversation that he had with his friend of 48 years, just three hours before his death.

Kher recalled that he was on a phone call with Kaushik just three before before he succumbed to a heart attack. During their conversation, Kaushik had mentioned that he was feeling unwell, and Kher had told him to get admitted to a hospital. “I told him, ‘Go to the hospital, get yourself admitted. Go as if you are going to a resort’,” Kher shared with Bollywood Hungama.

Kaushik insisted on going in the morning, but Kher didn’t give up. He told his friend, “You go now. Lie down and rest there. Don’t think you are going to a hospital, think you are going to a five-star hotel.”

Kaushik and Kher’s friendship dates back to their time together at drama school. Recalling his first meeting with the Mr India actor, Kher shared, “We met in 1975 in a drama school. I was sitting there and he came and sat with me. I asked him, ‘Why are you sitting here?’ At that time, I was 19-20 years old and wanted a girl to sit with me. I asked him, ‘Mereko kya milega (what will I get if you will sit with me)?’ He said, ‘I am not a hosteller, I am a local resident and you will get paranthas’. He had a knack to grab my attention.”

Anupam Kher also said that he and Kaushik made peace with each other only 15 years ago. Before that, they could feel a “friction” between them. The Kashmir Files actor said, “I have moved on. He is with me.”

Satish Kaushik was an Indian actor, director, producer, comedian, and screenwriter. He was an alumnus of the National School of Drama and the Film and Television Institute of India.
