Anil Kapoor is a proud father after Sonam Kapoor delivered a speech at the coronation of King Charles III in London on May 6. Anil took to social media to cheer for his daughter, who addressed a huge crowd at the event, and gave a speech about the importance of the Commonwealth. People have been hailing her for starting her speech with “namaste”.
Sharing pictures of Sonam’s look from the coronation, Anil wrote, “Sonam has always done things differently and it makes me so happy when she gets recognized and celebrated for it. It is such an honor to be invited amidst royalty to address all the commonwealth nations. It seems fitting that Sonam should represent our country on a global stage with other accomplished artists to bring in a new era of unity, harmony and creativity.”
“As a father, and as a member of the Indian film fraternity, I could not be more proud of Sonam for being the face and voice of this generation,” he added.
As soon as Anil put the post up, Sonam responded to it by commenting, “Love you so much ❤️ ! My biggest cheerleader ❤️.” Her husband Anand Ahuja wrote, “Wowwww. So lovely said! @anilskapoor ❤️.” Anil’s fans and friends from the fraternity also poured in their love for them. Bhumi Pednekar and Maheep Kapoor posted red heart emojis, whereas one fan wrote, “Such a Proud Moment !!! Regards always.”
Sonam’s mother Sunita had earlier taken to Instagram to share a video of Sonam’s speech from the Coronation Day, where she was welcomed as one of the ‘biggest Hindi cinema stars’ by the host. Sonam greeted the audience with ‘namaste’ and said, “Our Commonwealth is a union. Together we are one-third of the world’s people, one-third of the world’s ocean, one-quarter of the world’s land. Each of our countries is unique. Each of our people is special. But we choose to stand as one. Learning from our history, blessed by our diversity, driven by our values and determined to build a more peaceful, sustainable and prosperous future for everyone, where every voice is heard. Without further ado, here’s welcoming the incredible voices from across the Commonwealth.”
Sonam was last seen in a cameo in Vikramaditya Motwane’s AK vs AK, she’ll next be seen in Shome Makhija’s Blind.
