Ananya Panday says Shah Rukh Khan called her, Suhana Khan and Shanaya Kapoor his ‘lucky charm’ after KKR’s first IPL win

Ananya Panday said that the friendship between her, Suhana Khan and Shanaya Kapoor was a gift from their mothers.

Ananya Panday has shared a strong friendship with Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan ever since they were little kids. So before she knew SRK as the star of Hindi cinema, she had seen him as a friend’s father who liked to pamper his daughter and her friends. In a recent interview, when Ananya was asked about going on playdates at ‘Badshah of Bollywood’ house’, Ananya said that Shah Rukh never made them feel like he was a star.

“I think he is just the kind of person… We didn’t feel like that. He didn’t make us feel like that. I don’t think he makes anyone feel like that. He makes the person in front of him feel like the Badshah. He has this amazing quality about him,” she shared on No Filter Neha. Ananya then recalled the time when Kolkata Knight Riders won their first IPL tournament and said that SRK credited Suhana, Shanaya and her for being his lucky charms.

“Shah Rukh sir is a very inclusive person. Like there was this year when KKR, they won their first IPL and he was like ‘it is because of you three, you are my lucky charm, you will always be with me’. So he always makes us feel special. When we were younger, I don’t think we even realised this,” she shared. Ananya was asked if the friendship between her, Suhana and Shanaya was a “gift from their mothers”, she nodded and said, “It’s like those cousins you can’t get rid of. They are my family.”

Shanaya’s mother Maheep Kapoor and Ananya’s mother Bhavna Panday star in the reality series Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. Suhana’s mother Gauri is also a member of their friend group as the three of them appeared on an episode of Koffee with Karan and spoke about the friendship they have nurtured over many decades.

Suhana made her debut with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies in 2023. Shanaya was previously announced to star in Karan Johar’s Bedhadak, however, there has been no announcements about the film since then. She is now making her debut with Mohanlal’s Vrusabha. When asked if the three of them discuss acting, Ananya said that they used to talk about films a lot when they were younger but since this is now their profession, they don’t discuss it much. “We talk about acting much less now that all three are actors,” she said. She added that if there was ever a film where the three of them were cast together, she would like for it to be called Charlie’s Angels.
