Amitabh Bachchan is probably the only superstar, whose fandom has only grown with each passing decade. The actor started his career in the 70s and continues to be loved by movie lovers across generations. Big B, as he’s fondly called, also makes it a point to return the love by meeting his fans every week at his home. This Sunday, Bachchan senior celebrated 41 years of this ritual as he greeted fans outside Jalsa, his Mumbai home.
The actor shared a video, showing his gratitude toward his fans and well-wishers. The video, posted on X (formerly Twitter), started with fans showing posters and photos of the actor’s many iconic characters. The crowds were seen cheering the actor as they waited for him to step out. Amitabh soon walked out in a crisp white kurta-pyjama with a shawl wrapped around him. He greeted everyone with a namaste and waved to them.
Big B was also seen animatedly talking to fans and smiling as they showered love on him. He thanked them for being there and joined his hands, as the door shut. In a sweet gesture, he later also signed autographs on posters that the fans brought to him.
Sharing the video, Amitabh Bachchan wrote, “T 4780 – This Sunday .. 41 years ! Every Sunday ! Can never have enough emotion or words for this gratitude and love ..” He later also took to his blog to pen a heartfelt note about his fan ritual.
And the Sunday blessings of the well wishers and the prominent Ef .. my gratitude as ever and always .. so emotional each day each Sunday to feel the love and the expressions of emotion they carry for hours to spend just that few moments ..
my prayers continue for all to be well and in happiness ever ..
This is one moment that never has enough words in my vocabulary to express .. but I feel you all know what I mean .. what you mean ..
I can just fold my hands in eternal gratitude ..
and love ❤️..
In a recent blog post, Amitabh Bachchan explained why he meets his fans barefoot. “You go to the temple bare feet… my well wishers are my temple,” Big B wrote.
The actor also added how he has installed four containers of drinking water for those who wait outside in the heat. “I felt they wait for hours in this sweltering heat, so to provide them drinking water with lime to quench their thirst .. 4 containers, 2 on either side of the gate .. over and above the ‘matka’ that is permanently there during the day and night,” the thespian wrote.
On the work front, Amitabh is presently seen hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati 15. He will next be seen in Project K, which also stars Deepika Padukone and Prabhas.
