The Maddock Supernatural Universe has consistently delivered back-to-back hits, and its latest release, Stree 2, is no exception. Filmmaker Amar Kaushik, who has helmed Stree, Bhediya, and now Stree 2, is riding high on the success of his latest film while also gearing up for the next installment, Bhediya 2. In a recent interaction, Kaushik shared updates on Bhediya 2 and officially confirmed the making of a new vampire film featuring Ayushmann Khurrana.
Speaking to IndiaToday.in, Kaushik revealed that the script for Bhediya 2 is almost ready. “The script is not locked yet, but we have written the story, and now we need to develop the screenplay. I am not satisfied with a few parts of the story, so we are currently working on that,” he said.
Kaushik also officially confirmed his upcoming vampire film and revealed its title. “The vampire film is titled ‘Thamba’. We will begin shooting for it in the next two months,” he said. Amar Kaushik will be producing Thamba. He had earlier directed Ayushmann’s 2019 film Bala.
Bhediya, the third installment in the Maddock Supernatural Universe, starred Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. The plot of the film draws inspiration from Arunachal Pradesh’s folklore about a Yapum, a shape-shifting werewolf who seeks to protect the jungle, even if it means killing someone. While it has been confirmed that Varun Dhawan will reprise his role as Bhediya in the sequel, Kriti Sanon’s participation has not yet been confirmed.
Meanwhile, Stree 2 has grossed Rs 700 crore worldwide within just 20 days of its release. The film has surpassed the Hindi version of Baahubali 2 as well as Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal.
