A few months ago, actor Viineet Kumar Siingh spoke about Alia Bhatt and said that he was a struggler when she was young enough sit in her father Mahesh Bhatt’s lap, and now, when she is a movie star, Viineet still finds himself struggling to get his next part. Now, the actor has explained the intention behind his statement, and said that he really appreciates the work that Alia does. He claimed to have spoken about her mainly to highlight the disparity in the kind of opportunities that they both got in their career. He also spoke about Ranbir Kapoor and how the actor called him after he saw his work in Ugly in 2013.
Talking on The Raunac Podcast, Viineet said, “My intention behind saying all of that was, I still don’t have a house.” He was presumably talking about owning a house. The Chhaava actor said that Alia has experimented a lot with her roles in her career, and given some excellent performances. But, he added that he still doesn’t have that privilege because he has to constantly worry about paying the next month’s bills.
“Alia, since the time she started and even now, look at the number of experiments she has done. Look at Highway, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Udta Punjab, so many films and look at her range. I am trying to say that when an actor gets an opportunity at the right time, then they get a chance to experiment upon themselves and they can shine. Half your life gone is trying to pay the next month’s bills. I want that freedom that if I want to work on myself for 6 months, then I should be able to do that,” he said and added in the same conversation, “I only spoke about Alia because I like her work.”
Viineet Kumar Siingh also spoke about Ranbir Kapoor and said that after getting a congratulatory call from the actor in 2013 after Ugly, he makes sure that he congratulates Ranbir on his good performances. “Ranbir had called me back in 2013 when he watched Ugly. I didn’t even have his number but he called me. I thought someone was pulling my leg,” he said.
He said that the reason behind bringing up Alia and Ranbir was just that he enjoys their work. “You only talk about those who are on your mind, and whose work you appreciate, it’s only natural. Now if there is someone living on Mars whose name is Honolulu, I won’t know that because I have never seen that or thought about that. I like their work,” he said. Viineet was last seen in the Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava.
