Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna are one of the well-known couples of Bollywood. The couple often share quirky posts for each other on social media and make headlines for their funny anecdotes. Recently, the actor, who is promoting his film Khel Khel Mein, spoke in length about his relationship with his wife and author, who is “poles apart” from him.
In an interview with Galatta India, the actor said, “Me and my wife are very different. We are poles apart. She thinks left, I think right. The only thing which is common in us is that we both like to sleep early and wake up early. Another thing which we like is playing Rummy or Ludo. Nothing else is common in us. But, its not just about that. Respect is the most important thing. It is important to give each other space. There are 36 traits in people, not necessarily they all have to be common in a couple. But if you have that one trait of respecting each other, I think its equivalent to having all the traits you need in a relationship.”
Akshay also opened up about how he likes to keep quiet about things, while his wife, who is completely different from him openly shares her thoughts, which he thinks should be avoided.
He said, “I believe people should keep quiet. They should not comment on everything. Words can harm you a lot. A word can hurt you harder than a punch. Tongue can destroy relationships. It can create wars. You need to be very careful of what you speak. People call me diplomatic, well, be it so. I am diplomatic because I measure my words before saying it to anyone. I don’t want to hurt anybody.”
He added, “Even though I know a lot about you, I wouldn’t say a word. I don’t want to say anything that will give a certain image about you. My wife is quite open. If she watches a film, she will tell the producer, its a shit film. And I always tell, relax, don’t do that. I know she is telling the truth, but what’s the point in hurting someone”, concluded the actor.
Akshay and Twinkle tied the knot in 2001. They are parents to Aarav and Nitara. The actor, was last seen in the film Sarfira, which tanked at the box office. Khel Khel Mein, which will mark the return of Fardeen Khan in feature films after a gap of over 14 years, will mark the third release of the Khiladi actor this year. Scheduled for Independence Day, the film also stars Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, and Ammy Virk, among others. The film will clash with Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Stree 2.
