Farah Khan explains why Akshay Kumar couldn’t be a part of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar

Speaking during the MAMI Film Festival, choreographer-turned-filmmaker Farah Khan revealed some unknown facts about the Aamir Khan film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.

Yes, you read it right. Akshay Kumar could have been a part of the 90s blockbuster, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (JJWS). Choreographer-turned-director, Farah Khan, while speaking at the ongoing MAMI Film Festival in Mumbai, revealed that she auditioned Akshay Kumar for the role of Shekhar Malhotra, the character ultimately played by Deepak Tijori. Apart from being an assistant director, Farah was also a part of the casting team for the iconic movie. But director Mansoor Khan didn’t find Akshay fit for the role and rejected him. Ouch!

Well, this gives us another reason to believe that success didn’t come easily to Akshay. His is the real story of rising from rags to riches. He lost many races and had to taste failure several times before reaching the position he has in the film industry today.

At the event, she also recalled all the trouble she faced while shooting for her first choreographed song ‘Pehla Nasha’ for Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar . “Pooja Bedi had a tough time while shooting for the Marilyn Monroe sequence in the red skirt. So, she had to wear a red thong underneath her skirt,” revealed Farah.

It seemed as if today was a day to know all the secrets of Aamir Khan’s epic sports drama. Director Mansoor Khan said that Aamir Khan was upset at not receiving the best actor award for the movie.

Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar initially wasn’t that big a hit. It’s initial business at the box office was just average. It was only later that the film picked up, and eventually acquired a cult status. It still remains a hit among the young generation and its song ‘Pehla Nasha’ is the youth romance anthem even to this day. After all, we all have it on our playlists permanently.
