It’s not strange to inquire about Akshay Kumar’s potential entry into politics, especially given the themes of some of his films. In a recent interview with India Today, the actor addressed these speculations, firmly putting any political ambitions on hold and leaving the door open for the future.

When asked about the prospect of transitioning into politics, Akshay Kumar clarified, “No, I am not joining politics. I don’t know what will happen in future but for now I am not joining politics. I am doing such films because I feel it’s important to bring such subjects in front of people. God has given me such a nice platform that I can do films and I can tell people what all has happened in our nation through my films, like that of Kesari, Samrat Prithviraj or any other film.”

This is not the first time that the actor has faced questions about his political aspirations. During a 2022 interview with PTI, he was asked the same question. He answered by saying, “I am very happy making films… As an actor, I do whatever possible to take up social issues. I have produced 150 films. I produce commercial films, sometimes with social issues. I produce three-four films a year.”

Currently, Akshay Kumar is seen in Mission Raniganj. The film, although it had a decent start at the box office on October 6, has encountered challenges in drawing audiences to theatres. According to industry tracker Sachnilk, the film has garnered a total of Rs 13.85 crore within four days of its release.

Mission Raniganj is based on a real-life incident in a coal mine in West Bengal where 65 mine workers were rescued following a flood. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and produced by Pooja Entertainment, the film sheds light on this remarkable rescue operation.
