Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently made heads turn at the Mumbai screening of her latest film, Ponniyin Selvan 2, when she turned up for the event with her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan.

In a video which is now being widely circulated on the internet, the actor’s daughter is seen smiling and waving at the eager paparazzi, and is briefly seen folding her hands in a namaste as she realises she is being clicked. Aishwarya is seen smiling fondly at this gesture as she signals her driver to move ahead towards the venue.

Apart from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, several others graced the screening of Mani Ratnam directorial Ponniyin Selvan 2, including actors such as Anil Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan and Aditi Rao Hydari.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 is the second and final chapter of the Ponniyin Selvan franchise, which has been helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam. It has been adapted from Kalki Krishnamurthy’s path-breaking novel series of the same name, and stars names such as Aishwarya, Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala among others. The first part of the film, which released last year, was a big hit, and grossed over Rs 500 crore globally. Meanwhile, PS-2 is also doing well for itself, as it has already earned over Rs 100 crore worldwide within merely three days of its release.

Besides commercial success, PS-2 has been receiving praise from critics as well, with Indianexpress.com’s Kirubhakar Purushothaman giving it four stars and writing, “Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 will have polarizing views. While the fans of the book might be disappointed with some major deviations from the book, the ace director understands the form won’t let him be entirely faithful to the novel.”
