Our Indian beauties – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have made their appearances on the red carpet at the 68th Cannes Film festival.
This year, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor faced some tough competition from Katrina Kaif who made her debut on the red carpet at the French Riviera. Katrina was the first to display her style and elegance on the red carpet and we must say, Katrina was an epitome of grace and beauty. (See Pics: Aishwarya is a green goddess)
Her first choice was a fresh and experimental monochrome look – cropped top and layered white skirt by Milly that the actress wore to interviews and photo ops. (See Pics: Sonam Kapoor paints the town blue)
Take Our PollFor her red carpet appearances, Katrina Kaif picked a black Oscar de la Renta gown for the opening night and a red lace Elie Saab that she wore to the screening of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’. Out of the two, we have to say we preferred the romantic strapless lace Oscar de la Renta gown. It was difficult to fault the beauty as she glided down the red carpet in the elegant gown with jewels from Chopard. (In Pics: Katrina is ravishing in red)
While Elie Saab creation was also gorgeous, we felt it clashed with the carpet and the actress’ current red hair colour.
Take Our PollSonam Kapoor as always dazzled us with her looks at Cannes this year. Her outfits included a cream coloured fusion sari look by designers Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and a stunning dramatic blue Ralph & Russo couture gown.
The actress also wore a stunning white Ashi Studio dress with a plunging neckline to chef Vikas Khanna’s book launch at Cannes. While the dress did receive some mixed reviews, we loved it. The white was immaculate; the dress was classy and feminine and probably deserved a better outing.
Then came the Elie Saab disaster that we frankly did not think much about. As much as we love Sonam Kapoor’s enthusiasm for experimenting on the red carpet, we do think this feathery debacle was overwhelming on her slender frame but.
Sonam Kapoor then sizzled in a butterfly-design gold and black embossed scoop-necked blouse with a black side-slit skirt and matching pumps. The outfit was designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla.
Out of all her looks, we favoured the intricately cut sheer sari blouse with the plunging neckline that worked beautifully with the matching ruffled sari that Sonam wore to media calls at Cannes. However, we do wish that this absolutely stunning look was kept for a red carpet appearance. Nonetheless, the diva once again proved just why she is the fashionsta of Bollywood.
Take Our PollAishwarya Rai Bachchan’s looks at Cannes over the past few years have been the centre of much focus and attention. While the former beauty queen has been praised and criticized in the past, this year Aishwarya Rai seemed to have played it safe and sure.
Her first two looks included a floral Sabyasachi belted jumpsuit that seemed to be announcing Spring which Aishwarya wore to the UN Panel Discussion For Gender Equality and the emerald green sheer Elie Saab evening gown, which the actress picked for her red carpet appearance.
We think the colour was quite the winner for the actress especially since it set off her eyes beautifully with the matching eyeliner and wine coloured lips.
But, her next appearance made out jaws drop – For the launch of ‘Jazbaa’ at Cannes, Aishwarya was styled in a rich oxblood colour strapless Oscar de la Renta gown with a full-layered skirt. Deep coloured lips and wearing her tresses in beautiful waves, we must say the Aishwarya not only surprised us with her pick, but also left us highly impressed.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made quite the fashion statement when she took over the red carpet on Wednesday (May 20) in a gorgeous Ralph & Russo couture gown. The monochrome creation featured a strapless design, cinched at the waist with a dramatic ruffled bottom skirt that did flash a bit of leg Marilyn Monroe style.
Earlier that day, Aishwarya Rai flaunted her perfect curves in a chic white Georges Chakra gown with a gold coloured fishtail bottom that swept behind her gracefully. She was also seen enjoying the summer sun in Cannes as she strolled around in a black Salvatore Ferragamo midi dress with a sheer neck.
But, the beauty left the best for last when she attended the grand amfAR Gala in a gorgeous strapless Elie Saab evening gown in lilac. The gown is feminine, delicate and romantically dreamy, making it a perfect choice for the last of her Cannes appearances. Aishwarya who completes her fourteenth year at Cannes, matched her eye shadow to the hue of her dress and had her hair styled in sweeping waves. A bling necklace complemented her whole look.
We’re quite torn between the Oscar de la Renta gown and the Elie Saab creation. But, the deeper than wine did appeal to us just a tad bit more.
Who do you think fared the best this year at Cannes?
