Afwaah trailer: Bhumi Pednekar and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are on the run with rumours trailing them

The trailer of Sudhir Mishra’s directorial Afwaah is out and takes audience into the world of politics and intrigue created by the filmmaker. The film starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bhumi Pednekar and Sumeet Vyas shows how rumours can land people in life-threatening situations. The political thriller has been produced by Anubhav Sinha.

The trailer shows Sumeet as a politician who aspires for high office. His plans go awry when his fiancee, played by Bhumi, runs away. She meets Nawazuddin during her escape and rumours about them eloping spiral. An angry Sumeet sets on their chase and revive his political career.

Bhumi also shared the trailer on her social media account and wrote, “You can try to escape, but the chase never stops…Ek Afwaah aapki zindagi palat sakti hai.” The film’s screenplay has been written by Sudhir along with Nisarg Mehta and Shiva Shankar Bajpai. The film is set to release in theatres on May 5.

In a statement given earlier, Sudhir had spoken about the essence of the film and said, “Afwaah is a thriller which speaks of a very important message in the current times. The super-talented combo of Bhumi and Nawaz have given their best to this unconventional story and I am sure the audience is going to love watching them on the big screen.”

In an interview with PTI, Sumeet had expressed his awe for the director and said, “Sudhir sir is a maverick. There are very few people who have such passion for telling a story. It was a treat to be on set and observe him. Working with Sudhir sir, Nawaz and Bhumi has been one of the most enriching experiences of my filmography. There are like two or three experiences (in my career) where I felt I grew a little bit as an artiste, and this was one of them. I really hope the film does well.”
