The advance tickets sale for Om Raut’s upcoming mythological drama Adipurush began on Sunday. Within a day, the film received a good response from the audience as cinema halls across the country sold approximately 50,000 tickets.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Prabhas and Kriti Sanon-led film has already earned Rs 1-2 crore from the sale of approximately 50,000 tickets. National cinema chains, PVR, Cinepolis and INOX, sold about 18,000 tickets by 6 pm on Sunday, reported Pinkvilla. For the weekend the three national chains have already sold around 35,000 tickets.
However, it needs to be noted that Adipurush is also getting mass bookings in theatres as big stars are coming out in support of the film. As per reports, Ranbir Kapoor, Ananya Birla and producer Abhishek Agarwal, who backed films like Karthikeya 2 and The Kashmir Files, have decided to buy 10,000 tickets each of the movie and distribute them among the underprivileged section of the society for free.
Also, every theater which will play Adipurush will have one seat reserved for Lord Hanuman. During the final trailer launch in Tirupati, director Om Raut requested the producers and exhibitors of the film to keep one seat empty in every theater as a mark of respect to Lord Hanuman. However, a few reports suggested that the seat next to the one reserved for Lord Hanuman will be expensive.
The film’s production company, T-Series, refuted the reports as it clarified on Twitter, “There are misleading reports circulating in the media regarding #Adipurush ticket pricing. We want to clarify that there will be no differences in rates for seats next to the one reserved for Hanuman Ji! Don’t fall for false information! Jai Shri Ram! 🙏🏹.”
Adipurush is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 500 crore. The film features Prabhas as King Raghava, Kriti Sanon as his wife Janaki, and Sunny Singh as his brother Lakshman. Actor Saif Ali Khan will be seen playing the role of Ravana in the film. The movie was earlier scheduled for January 2023 release but got pushed to June 2023 as the makers said they want to give a ‘complete visual’ experience to viewers, and hence need more time to work on the film. The decision was taken after the first teaser of the movie received severe backlash for the poor quality of VFX.
Adipurush will hit theatres on June 16.
