Adhyayan Suman reveals why he spoke about breakup with Kangana Ranaut in 2017: ‘People didn’t know my side of story’

Adhyayan S Suman, who had opened up about his relationship with Kangana Ranaut in 2017 in an explosive interview that snowballed into a controversy, has now addressed his comments. Kangana and Adhyayan met on the sets of their 2009 film Raaz: The Mystery Continues. The actor has now explained the reason behind giving the interview in 2017 when he accused Kangana of subjecting him to physical and mental abuse.

In an interview with News18 Showsha, Adhyayan expressed no regrets about speaking out about his tumultuous relationship with Kangana. He explained, “I don’t regret speaking about my relationship. I spoke about it like any human being would. I spoke about it at a point when people didn’t know about my side of the story.”

Adhyayan clarified that it wasn’t a publicity stunt on his part, stating, “If you recall, there were no press conferences arranged. I never created a hullabaloo saying that things happened with me. It was just once that I spoke out of respect for that person and more importantly, for myself.” He further emphasised the importance of sharing his perspective. He explained that he wanted to speak his truth once as many wrong opinions were formed about him and he found it important to clear things out.

Adhyayan also clarified that his intention wasn’t seeking publicity, explaining, “If I was publicity hungry, I would’ve spoken about it back in 2009 when I had the relationship and not in 2017. What difference does it make to my career? You don’t get work because of your affairs but because of your talent. People judged me back then, but then they came back and apologised to me after I spoke about my side of the story. I faced backlash but I don’t regret it at all.”

On the professional front, Adhyayan was seen in the web series Inspector Avinash, which is available on Jio Cinema. The show, written and directed by Neeraj Pathak, stars Randeep Hooda in the lead role.
