Saurabh Sachdeva, currently riding high on the success of his latest release Dhadak 2, where he portrays one of the film’s most layered characters, recently shared his views on Arjun Kapoor, as an actor. Having taught Arjun during his early days at Barry John Acting Studio, Saurabh took a moment to reflect on his journey in the film industry, lauding him for his consistency and resilience in the face of constant public scrutiny and online trolling.

In a candid conversation with SCREEN, Saurabh said, “He’s very bright. When I was at Barry John teaching, he was there. He was very bright. He’s watched all the films in the world. He knows cinema very well. I feel a lot of the work he’s done is very good work too. But we have to give him a chance. We really have to let him be. And the best part about him is that he’s trying to do something new every time. He’s choosing new scripts, taking on those challenges, and still having the courage to say, ‘Okay, I’m still trying to do something new. I will not keep repeating what has already been a success. I’ll do something different.’ And I like that.”

In the same conversation, Saurabh Sachdeva also offered insight into areas he believes Arjun Kapoor could further explore as an actor. “Maybe he needs more work on — I don’t know — more than craft, he needs to work on being himself fully and own it. But I feel he’s very courageous. Very courageous. Because when he talks about his personal life to me, I can feel that he opens up so much, and it’s so beautiful. I told him, ‘Arjun be this, you’ll have great success.’ I’m actually very fond of him.”

Saurabh didn’t shy away from addressing the criticism Arjun often receives online, describing the actor’s journey as deeply emotional and worthy of empathy. “People will say whatever they want to say. That’s their choice. That’s how it is in this field. People will always judge us, pull us down, or say, ‘Wow, he’s so good.’ But I feel emotionally attached to his journey, his career. Not because I meet him daily or because he’s close to me, but because of his journey, because of the way he’s struggling every time, working hard, and trying to bring something new,” he shared.

Saurabh Sachdeva’s comments come at a time when Arjun Kapoor has been the target of intense online hate and memes.
