Bollywood actor Aayush Sharma, who is also Salman Khan’s brother-in-law, has found himself amidst the ongoing debate surrounding nepotism since the start of his career. After all, his debut film Loveyatri (2018) was backed by Salman Khan. In a recent interview, Aayush, coming from a political background, shared the challenges he has faced in dealing with the judgments associated with being married into the Khan family. Many have accused him of marrying Salman’s sister Arpita Khan solely for financial benefits and an easy entry into Bollywood.

Addressing the rumors surrounding lavish gifts allegedly received from the Khan family at his wedding, Aayush expressed his irritation and told Siddharth Kannan, “Social media decided a lot of the things for me. I remember when I was getting married some said that I got a diamond-studded sherwani as a gift. I still haven’t gotten that sherwani. Some said I got Bentley in dowry. Where is that Bentley? Not that I want it.”

Giving a reply to such trolls, Aayush shared how he has never ‘craved’ for money, thanks to his political background. He said, “The media made me a businessman from Delhi and I was thinking I am not a businessman from any angle. I come from a political background. My father is a politician and I am a struggling actor, so how did I became a businessman I don’t know. People commented on my marriage saying that I married for money, career and entry in Bollywood. I come from a good family, from a political background. Ma Baap ka mila bahut kuch hai life mein (Have gotten enough from my parents), I never had craving for money.”

Describing his journey as a struggling actor when he first befriended Arpita, Aayush said, “Also, I had given 300 auditions before getting an entry in Bollywood and me and Arpita became friends at the time I was a struggling actor. So, will Arpita not know about my character before marriage. Was she that naive? Won’t the whole Khan family know about me? This is a baseless conversation.”

Aayush also revealed that he was willing to quit acting before his marriage. However, Salman Khan initiated to help him in his career. He said, “What they don’t know is that when my marriage with Arpita was finalised I told Salman sir that I don’t want to act because I had given 300 auditions and nothing happened. I told him I can’t do it. He said that my training hasn’t been good and offered to train me.”

Aayush’s debut film, Loveyatri, failed to make a mark at the box office. He later starred alongside Salman Khan in Antim. made on a budget of Rs 40 crore, the film managed to gross around Rs 60 crore. Currently, Aayush is engrossed in promoting his upcoming film Ruslaan, directed by Karan Lalit Butani and produced by K. K. Radhamohan.
